Thematic Original Music Competition
This competition started as just generic Video Game music which evolved into a role playing game music competition. The competition ran from 2004 to early 2007 and is no longer running.
Written as standard RPG travelling on the overworld map fanfare. I was only able to dedicate 2 hours of production to this track. 2004
Written as a mystical forest's setting piece. As I was writing this, my friendish Jill came forward and we ended up collaborating. She is a soprano with positively amazing talent. I ended up scrapping the idea of a somber string piece in favor of a sentimental and powerful aria. Jill recorded her singing to my lyrics and music into her LAPTOP MICROPHONE!! She managed to get some superb recordings. I did some additional arrangement to fit her powerful vocals. This was a very busy time for me, so this piece took about 8 hours due to scrapping the first idea, and long distance collaboration with Jill.

Written as an action platformer track. This features me on Chinese Dizi (Flute) improvising some burning leads. There is a naughty word before the danger music. Forgive. 1 hour turn around. 2005
Following the positively brimming comments on my Dizi-playing, I decided I would do an entire track featuring flute improvisations of mine. This is a track written under the idea that there is a huge stage show at the local tavern featuring the premier dance troupe and instrumental performers in the region. The heroes of "the game" are attending the show. I built a bunch of custom Soundfont patches for controlling environment and ambient noise. 5 hours production time. 2005
While everyone was writing typical generic RPG battle music, I decided to take inspiration in the less typical generic battle--a battle that takes place only at night. It needed a certain edge that the daytime battles did not usually afford. I tried to install a frantic aire about everything as if there is an atypical struggle. This track features me noodling on soprano recorder for about 1-3 minutes, I forget. 4 hours production time. 2005
Improvised piano solo. I noodled a motif, hit record and start-to-finish recorded this piece. Please forgive my inferior technical key skills. Performed and recorded using an unfamiliar setup. This is performed through M-Audio Keystation 88 with a stereo piano SoundFont I had on my laptop. Less than 1 hour production time. 2006 (The Keystation 88 sucks btw. Im sooo happy to have replaced it with my current DP.)
Written to highlight a dock town in the proverbial RPG. I try to capture in Celtic form, the style and feeling of a brilliant sea faring city, replete with brave sailors, happy peasants and general whimsics. I perform Soprano and Alto Recorders, as well as Clarinet and Bass Clarinet on this piece. Everything else is sequenced. 4 hours production. 2006
Eldan The Cursed City of Sorrow
This was written as background music to a city living under the shadow of a powerful magic curse.
I tried to do a very bizarre arrangement, and ended up with a powerful track. Was testing out a few new VST's I picked up.
5 hours production. 2006
This was written to backtrack as the music for wandering around inside a character's nightmare and battling off the evil spirit which is poisoning said character's mind. This is not intended as battle music, it is intended as BGM before the battle. This piece was used to highlight my new keyboard. I bought a Yamaha S90 ES, and so to break it in I entered TOMC with a completely improvised track. All patches are recorded and multi-tracked by me using only my S90 and my recording hardware at home. I turned this piece in in under 30 minutes. Early 2007
